It transcribes them, scores them and pulls out themes. The right alternative depends on which part of that job you want done differently. If you need a research repository, look at Dovetail or Condens. For a repository that can also run AI interviews, Marvin. If you moderate your own calls and want them transcribed and tagged, Looppanel. For enterprise AI-moderated studies on a sales-led contract, Listen Labs. For revenue teams coaching reps on sales calls, Gong. And if the real problem is that you don't have enough customer conversations to analyze, [Koji](https://www.koji.so) runs AI-moderated voice and text interviews and writes the report for you.\n\n## Why teams look for Insight7 alternatives\n\nInsight7 started out as an interview analysis tool for researchers. Today its own site describes it as call intelligence and coaching for customer teams, with call scoring, AI coaching and roleplay practice alongside voice-of-customer analysis. That shift suits a contact center or sales floor well. A product researcher who mainly wants to understand customers may find the scorecards and coaching features are aimed at someone else.\n\n![A customer team on headsets at their desks, the kind of group whose recorded calls a call analysis tool is built to review](https://images.unsplash.com/photo-1712159018726-4564d92f3ec2?crop=entropy&cs=tinysrgb&fit=max&fm=jpg&ixid=M3w5NDUzMDN8MHwxfHNlYXJjaHwyfHxjdXN0b21lciUyMHN1cHBvcnQlMjB0ZWFtJTIwaGVhZHNldHMlMjBvZmZpY2V8ZW58MXwwfHx8MTc5MzA4MzgxMXww&ixlib=rb-4.1.0&q=80&w=1080)\n\n_Photo by [Vagaro](https://unsplash.com/@vagaro?utm_source=koji&utm_medium=referral) on [Unsplash](https://unsplash.com/?utm_source=koji&utm_medium=referral)_\n\nThe second reason is simpler. Analysis tools need input. AI has made analysis fast: in Maze's [Future of User Research Report 2026](https://maze.co/blog/future-user-research-2026/), 69% of respondents said they use AI in at least some research projects, and the most common use was analyzing data (76%), ahead of transcription (57%). Condens found the same pattern in [a survey of 332 research practitioners](https://condens.io/blog/ai-in-user-research-analysis-report/): 91% use AI in their analysis work, 72.6% use general chat assistants and 46.7% use a purpose-built research tool.\n\nGetting the conversations in the first place hasn't sped up the same way. In User Interviews' [State of User Research 2025](https://www.userinterviews.com/state-of-user-research-report), 54% of researchers said time to recruit was a struggle. If your analysis tool is waiting on calls nobody has had time to book, a faster analysis tool won't help much.\n\n## What Insight7 offers and costs\n\nInsight7 imports recordings and transcripts, transcribes them and analyzes them in bulk. You get themes, quotes and reports, plus call scorecards that link each score to the part of the transcript behind it. Its newer coaching features let reps practice with AI roleplays and get scored.\n\nAt the time of writing, [Insight7's pricing page](https://insight7.io/pricing/) lists a free plan (1 user, 3 analyses), Pro at $99 a month (1 user, 50 call or transcript analyses), Business at $299 a month (3 users, 200 analyses), Plus at $1,499 a month (20 users, 2,500 analyses) and a custom Enterprise plan with unlimited analyses and API access. Annual billing takes off roughly two months. Some third-party listings and older Insight7 articles quote different figures, so confirm on the live page before you budget.\n\nWhat it does not do is hold the conversation. Someone on your team still recruits, schedules and runs every call.\n\n## Two kinds of alternative\n\nMost of the tools people compare with Insight7 fall into one of two camps, and it saves time to know which one you are shopping for.\n\n![Comparison of a recording analysis tool and an AI interviewer: who runs the call, who recruits, and when you get results](/visuals/recording-analysis-tool-vs-ai-interviewer-comparison/recording-analysis-tool-vs-ai-interviewer-comparison.png \"If your bottleneck is getting conversations, an analysis tool alone won't fix it\")\n\n- **Analysis tools and repositories** take recordings, transcripts and notes you already have, and help you tag, search and summarize them. Dovetail, Condens, Looppanel and Gong sit here, alongside Insight7.\n- **AI interviewers** run the conversation themselves. A participant opens a link, the AI asks the questions and the follow-ups, and the analysis happens as each interview finishes. Koji and Listen Labs sit here, and Marvin now covers both.\n\n## The 7 best Insight7 alternatives at a glance\n\nHere is how the alternatives compare on the job they do and who they suit.\n\n![Table comparing Insight7 with seven alternatives by what each does best, whether it runs interviews and who it suits](/visuals/insight7-alternatives-comparison-table/insight7-alternatives-comparison-table.png \"Start with the job you need done, then compare prices\")\n\n### 1. Koji: when you need new interviews, not only analysis\n\nKoji is an AI-native research platform. You describe what you want to learn, the research assistant drafts a brief with open questions, scales, choice and ranking questions, and an AI interviewer runs each conversation by voice or text. It asks follow-up questions based on what the participant actually said, and participants can take part whenever suits them, with no call to book.\n\nThe analysis is built in. Every interview gets a [quality score from 1 to 5](/docs/understanding-quality-scores), and only interviews scoring 3 or more use credits or go into the report, so low-effort answers don't skew your findings. The report groups answers into themes and ties each finding to the quotes behind it, and you can [ask questions of the results in chat](/docs/insights-chat-guide).\n\n![Koji report summary with a side panel of supporting participant quotes behind one finding](/email/shots/shot-evidence-panel.jpg \"Each finding in a Koji report opens the participant quotes that support it\")\n\nA few things matter if you are coming from a call analysis tool:\n\n- **Participants:** share a link, import a list for personal invite links, or [recruit from Koji's research panel](/docs/panel-recruitment) on paid plans.\n- **Languages:** studies run in more than 25 interview languages. When you publish, Koji translates every question, including answer options and scale labels, and you can choose the language the report is written in. See the [multilingual research guide](/docs/multilingual-research-guide).\n- **Privacy:** a per-study setting removes names, email addresses, phone numbers, postal addresses and employers from transcripts when each interview finishes.\n- **Pricing:** published and usage-based. A text interview costs 1 credit and a voice interview 3 credits, with credits at €1. Plans start free with 10 credits, then Insights at €29 a month and Interviews at €79 a month.\n\n**Best for:** product, research and marketing teams whose real constraint is getting enough customer conversations. **Not for:** QA scoring of sales or support calls you already record.\n\n### 2. Dovetail: a repository for larger organizations\n\n[Dovetail](https://dovetail.com/pricing/) is a research repository with AI search, summaries and chat across interviews, notes and feedback. It has retired its self-serve paid plans, so new customers choose between a Free plan (one project, one channel, with AI chat and summaries) and a custom-quoted Enterprise plan.\n\n**Best for:** organizations centralizing research from many teams. **Not for:** small teams that want a published price, or anyone who needs the interviews run for them.\n\n### 3. Marvin: repository plus an AI interviewer\n\n[Marvin](https://heymarvin.com/pricing) is an AI research repository that has added an AI Interviewer for moderated studies. Its help center says Free plan users can run up to 5 AI interviews, and its pricing page sells the AI research features as an add-on to paid plans. Paid plans are quoted through sales.\n\n**Best for:** research teams that want analysis and AI interviews under one repository. **Not for:** buyers who need to see a price before a sales call.\n\n### 4. Looppanel: transcription and tagging for calls you moderate\n\n[Looppanel](https://www.looppanel.com/pricing) records and transcribes your interview calls, then helps you tag and analyze them. Its Pro plan is listed at $4,200 a year with 5 editors, unlimited viewers and 30 transcription hours a month. Enterprise adds SSO, PII redaction and API access on custom pricing.\n\n**Best for:** researchers who moderate their own calls and want faster notes. **Not for:** teams without time to run the calls in the first place.\n\n### 5. Condens: an affordable research repository\n\n[Condens](https://condens.io/pricing/) is a repository and analysis tool for UX research. Lite starts at €15 a month for one contributor with unlimited transcription, Business is €500 a month billed yearly with five contributors, and Enterprise is custom. There is a 15-day free trial and no free plan.\n\n**Best for:** small UX teams building a repository on a budget. **Not for:** generating new interviews.\n\n### 6. Listen Labs: enterprise AI-moderated studies\n\n[Listen Labs](https://listenlabs.ai/) runs AI-moderated interviews and recruits participants for them. It does not publish a price list: larger companies go through a demo and pilot, then pay for platform access plus credits per recruited participant.\n\n**Best for:** enterprise insight teams buying studies at scale. **Not for:** teams that want to start self-serve this week.\n\n### 7. Gong: if you mainly analyze sales calls\n\nIf you used Insight7 mostly for sales call review, [Gong](https://www.gong.io/pricing) is the established revenue intelligence platform. It records and analyzes sales calls and adds forecasting and coaching. Pricing is quote-based: per-user licenses plus a platform fee.\n\n**Best for:** revenue teams coaching reps. **Not for:** customer or user research.\n\n## How to choose\n\nAsk one question first: do you already have the conversations?\n\n- **Yes, and you need them analyzed or scored:** stay in the analysis camp. Insight7 or Gong for sales and support calls, Looppanel for research calls you moderate, Dovetail or Condens if the goal is a long-lived repository.\n- **No, or not enough of them:** an AI interviewer will move the needle more than better analysis. Koji if you want published pricing and to start today, Listen Labs if you are buying an enterprise program, Marvin if you also want a repository.\n\nThen check the practical details: who needs to edit, which languages your customers speak, whether every finding links back to a quote, and what one finished interview really costs once people's time is counted. Our [guide to analyzing AI-moderated interview results](/docs/analyzing-ai-moderated-interview-results) and [how to read your research report](/docs/reading-your-research-report) show what that looks like in practice.\n\n## Try Koji\n\nIf you picked Insight7 to understand customers and spent more time chasing calls than reading insights, try running the conversations with AI instead. Create a study on [Koji](https://www.koji.so), share the link, and watch the report fill in as interviews finish. You start free with 10 credits, and only interviews that pass the quality gate use them.\n","category":"Comparisons","lastModified":"2026-10-27T07:20:14.76077+00:00","metaTitle":"Insight7 Alternatives (2026): 7 Tools Compared","metaDescription":"Compare 7 Insight7 alternatives: Koji, Dovetail, Marvin, Looppanel, Condens, Listen Labs and Gong.
