Free costs nothing, needs no card, and includes 5 file uploads a month and limited AI-moderated interviews (up to 5). Starter, Pro and Enterprise are quote-only; review sites last listed Essentials from $3,000 a year and Standard from $6,000 a year, each for a five-user minimum. Marvin is a research repository and analysis platform with AI tagging, Ask AI search, AI-moderated interviews in 40+ languages and Live Intercept (September 2026), with SOC 2 Type II, HIPAA and GDPR; G2 rating 4.8 from about 133 reviews. Koji is an interview-first alternative with public pricing: free with 10 credits, Insights EUR 29/month, Interviews EUR 79/month, 1 credit per text and 3 per voice interview, only interviews scoring 3+ of 5 use credits, AI voice and text interviews in 28 languages with automatic reports.","content":"Marvin (HeyMarvin) has **four plans: Free, Starter, Pro and Enterprise**. Only the Free plan has a public price: it costs nothing, needs no credit card and includes 5 file uploads a month plus its AI Moderated Interviewer. **Starter, Pro and Enterprise are quote-only.** Review sites last listed Marvin's paid tiers at about **$3,000 a year (Essentials) and $6,000 a year (Standard), each with a five-user minimum**, roughly $50 and $100 per user per month. Treat those figures as a floor, not a quote.\n\nBelow is what each plan includes, what the historical numbers tell you about a real quote, how Marvin's AI interviews are counted, and when an interview-first tool with public pricing is the better fit.\n\n## Marvin plans and pricing in 2026\n\n| | Free | Starter | Pro | Enterprise |\n|---|---|---|---|---|\n| Price | $0, no card | Contact sales | Contact sales | Contact sales |\n| Uploads | 5 files a month | More | More | Custom |\n| AI Moderated Interviewer | Included, limited | Included | Included | Included |\n| What paid plans add | | More seats, integrations, AI features and admin controls | | |\n\nSource: [Marvin's pricing page](https://heymarvin.com/pricing) as indexed in October 2026. Marvin does not publish per-plan seat counts, hours or storage limits. A third-party guide from [Enterpret](https://www.enterpret.com/guides/the-6-best-heymarvin-alternatives-in-2026) also describes paid plans as quote-based as of September 2026.\n\n### What third parties report\n\nBefore Marvin moved to quote-only pricing, review sites listed:\n\n- **Essentials:** from $3,000 a year for 5 users ([TrustRadius](https://www.trustradius.com/products/heymarvin/pricing))\n- **Standard:** from $6,000 a year for 5 users, with a five-user minimum ([G2](https://www.g2.com/products/marvin-marvin/pricing), TrustRadius)\n- **Enterprise:** custom\n\nThose plan names no longer match the pricing page, so use them only to anchor your budget. A five-person team should expect to start in the low thousands of dollars a year, and more for enterprise security, more seats or heavy interview volume. Competitor Looppanel also says Marvin does not offer month-to-month billing, so plan for an annual contract.\n\n### How Marvin counts AI interviews\n\nMarvin's [help center](https://help.heymarvin.com/en/articles/11402590-how-do-i-use-ai-moderated-interviewer) says Free users can run up to 5 AI interviews, while paid customers currently get unlimited AI interviews, and that the AI interviewer is open to all plans \"for a limited period\". Its homepage also offers 75 free interviews when you request a demo. Both look like launch offers, so ask how AI interviews will be priced at renewal before you build a research program on them.\n\n## What Marvin does well\n\nMarvin started as a research repository and analysis tool and has grown into a broader platform. Its strengths:\n\n- **One home for qualitative data.** You can invite Marvin to Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Google Meet calls, or upload audio, video, Word, Google Docs, spreadsheets, slides, PDFs and text files.\n- **AI analysis and search.** Automatic transcription, AI tagging and themes, and Ask AI search across past research. In January 2026 Marvin launched [agentic Ask AI](https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20260127667920/en/HeyMarvin-Launches-Industrys-First-Agentic-AI-Search-for-Customer-Research), a multi-agent search over your research.\n- **AI-moderated interviews** in more than 40 languages, and since September 2026, [Live Intercept](https://www.financialcontent.com/article/bizwire-2026-9-16-marvin-launches-live-intercept-bringing-voice-to-voice-ai-moderated-research-inside-the-digital-customer-experience), a voice AI interviewer embedded in a website or product.\n- **Security.** Marvin lists SOC 2 Type II, HIPAA and GDPR compliance, with US and EU data centers.\n\nReviewers are positive: Marvin holds 4.8 out of 5 from about 133 reviews on [G2](https://www.g2.com/products/heymarvin/reviews). The common complaints are that the AI sometimes misreads a question or makes up an answer, transcription and translation are uneven in some languages, there is a learning curve across many tabs, quantitative and survey analysis is limited, and the price feels high next to alternatives.\n\n## Why a repository is worth paying for, and when it is not\n\nA repository earns its price when research gets used. Marvin's own [State of Modern Research 2026](https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20260604383986/en/HeyMarvin-Reveals-94-of-Leaders-Say-Research-Should-Drive-Decisions-but-Only-27-Consistently-Use-It) survey (vendor research, 309 respondents) found 94% of leaders say research should drive decisions, but only 27% cite it in nearly every major decision. If your team already has years of recordings, notes and survey files scattered across drives, a searchable home for them is valuable.\n\nAI is now part of most research workflows, which is why every tool in this category leans on it. In User Interviews' [State of User Research 2025](https://www.userinterviews.com/state-of-user-research-report), 80% of researchers said they use AI, up 24 points in a year. Maze's [Future of User Research 2025](https://maze.co/resources/user-research-report-2025/) put the share of product professionals using AI tools at 58%, up from 44% the year before, and its [2026 report](https://maze.co/resources/user-research-report/) found 69% use AI in at least some projects.\n\nBut a repository only helps once there is research to store. If your problem is that you are not hearing from enough customers in the first place, you are paying for shelves before you have anything to put on them.\n\n![Table comparing Marvin and Koji on main job, interview modes, languages, research library, published pricing and billing](/visuals/marvin-vs-koji-comparison-table/marvin-vs-koji-comparison-table.png \"Repository first or interviews first: pick the one that matches your gap\")\n\n## Who Marvin is right for\n\nMarvin fits best when:\n\n![A research team sorting notes on a wall, the kind of shared backlog a research repository is meant to organize](https://images.unsplash.com/photo-1568219557405-376e23e4f7cf?crop=entropy&cs=tinysrgb&fit=max&fm=jpg&ixid=M3w5NDUzMDN8MHwxfHNlYXJjaHwyfHxyZXNlYXJjaCUyMHRlYW0lMjBzdGlja3klMjBub3RlcyUyMHdhbGx8ZW58MXwwfHx8MTc5MjIxNjIxNHww&ixlib=rb-4.1.0&q=80&w=1080)\n\n_Photo by [Hugo Rocha](https://unsplash.com/@hugorrocha?utm_source=koji&utm_medium=referral) on [Unsplash](https://unsplash.com/?utm_source=koji&utm_medium=referral)_\n\n- You run a research team with a backlog of recordings and documents and want them searchable in one place.\n- Several teams need to search past research, and the repository is the main thing you are buying.\n- You need HIPAA compliance or EU data hosting and are ready for an annual, sales-led contract.\n- You want AI interviews as one part of a broader research operation.\n\nIt fits less well if you are a founder, PM or small team who mainly needs to run interviews now, if you want to see the price before talking to sales, or if you need month-to-month billing.\n\n## Marvin vs Koji\n\nKoji is built the other way round: interviews first. You describe what you want to learn, Koji drafts a research brief with questions, and you share a link. Participants talk to Koji's AI interviewer by voice or text, in 28 languages, and it asks follow-up questions based on each answer. You can [preview the interview](/docs/ai-moderated-interviews) yourself before anyone else sees it.\n\n![Koji voice interview in progress with an AI orb asking a follow-up question and a microphone button](/email/shots/shot-voice-interview.jpg \"A Koji voice interview: the AI asks a follow-up based on what the participant just said\")\n\nEvery interview gets a quality score from 1 to 5. Only interviews scoring 3 or more use credits or go into the report ([how the quality gate works](/docs/how-the-quality-gate-works)), so you never pay for someone who clicked through. Koji then builds the report: themes, findings backed by quotes you can click through to, personas and a summary, updated as new interviews arrive ([generating research reports](/docs/generating-research-reports)).\n\nYou can reach your own customers with a shared link or [personalized invite links](/docs/personalized-interview-links), screen them with [screening questions](/docs/adding-screening-questions-to-your-study), or recruit from Koji's research panel on paid plans ([panel recruitment](/docs/panel-recruitment)). On the Interviews and Enterprise plans you can also query studies from Claude and other AI assistants through Koji's [MCP connector](/docs/mcp-overview).\n\n### Pricing side by side\n\n| | Marvin | Koji |\n|---|---|---|\n| Free plan | 5 uploads a month, limited AI interviews | 10 free credits on signup, no card |\n| Paid plans | Starter, Pro, Enterprise: quote only | Insights €29/month (29 credits), Interviews €79/month (79 credits), Enterprise |\n| Historical list price | $3,000 to $6,000+ a year for 5 users | Not applicable: prices are public |\n| Billing | Annual, via sales | Monthly or annual, self-serve |\n| What you pay for | Seats and plan features | Completed interviews: 1 credit text, 3 voice, €1 per extra credit |\n| Low-quality interviews | Not specified | Free: only interviews scoring 3+ use credits |\n\nOn Koji's Interviews plan, €79 a month covers 79 text interviews or 26 voice interviews with the reports included.\n\n## How to decide\n\n![Checklist of questions to ask before buying interview analysis software, from who runs the calls to cost per completed interview](/visuals/interview-analysis-software-buying-checklist/interview-analysis-software-buying-checklist.png \"Answer these before the sales call so the quote matches your real use\")\n\nChoose Marvin if your biggest gap is organizing research you already have, across many teams and file types, and you are buying an annual platform. Choose Koji if your biggest gap is talking to enough customers, quickly, at a price you can see today. Many teams start with interviews and add a repository later, once there is a steady flow of research worth storing.\n\n## Run your first study free\n\n[Start a Koji study free](/signup) with 10 credits and no card. Type one research question, preview the interview, and share the link with a handful of customers. You will have a report to read before a sales call with any vendor would even be booked.\n","category":"Comparisons","lastModified":"2026-10-17T06:20:13.318368+00:00","metaTitle":"Marvin Pricing 2026: Free, Starter, Pro and Enterprise","metaDescription":"Marvin (HeyMarvin) has a free plan with 5 uploads a month; Starter, Pro and Enterprise are quote-only.
