Checklist
Interview question checklist: eight checks before you run a guide
Read each question out loud, then run it through these checks

Eight checks to run on every question in a user interview guide before the first session: is it about one real past moment, is it a single question, can it be answered honestly without agreeing, and does it avoid loaded words, hidden assumptions, jargon and your own feature names. For researchers, designers and founders editing a discussion guide. A Koji test interview is a quick way to hear which questions fall flat.

What's in this checklist
- Does it ask about one specific thing that already happened?
- Is it one question, not two?
- Could someone answer it honestly without agreeing with you?
- Are there any loaded words (waste, struggle, frustrating, easy)?
- Does it assume something you have not established?
- Would the participant use these words themselves?
- Does it avoid naming your feature or idea?
- Can it be answered with more than yes or no?
