A year of course evaluation evidence in Northern Ireland
A five-step annual cycle for collecting course evaluation evidence at a Northern Ireland university or college, timed around the National Student Survey and the Annual Provider Review. It runs from mid-semester check-ins and module evaluation to final-year interviews, closing the loop with students and a summary for the governing body. Koji can run the interviews and keep the record of actions.
What's in this process
- Autumn: mid-semester check-ins: Short formative interviews in the modules that scored lowest in the last NSS, while there is time to fix things.
- Each semester end: module evaluation: Keep the standard rating items so the trend holds, and ask why when a rating is low.
- Spring: final-year interviews: Ask graduating students about the areas the NSS covers, so you know the reasons before results arrive.
- Summer: close the loop: Record what each programme changed and tell students. A short you said, we did note is enough.
- Before the return: compile: Pull reports, themes and actions into one summary the governing body can sign off.
