Process
Plan an interview guide from goal to questions
Four layers, each one tracing back to the one above

A planning model for product managers, designers, founders and researchers writing a user interview guide. It starts from the decision the research must inform and works down to the questions, so every question earns its place. Use it before you write a script, then load the plan into Koji as a research brief to run the interviews.

What's in this process
- The decision: What this research will help someone decide, and who decides it.
- The research question: One question that fits on a sticky note. If it needs a paragraph, split the study.
- Topic areas: Three to five areas that together answer the research question.
- Questions and probes: Two to four open questions per topic, each with probes to go deeper.
