Checklist
Capstones as programme evidence: a checklist

Nine checks for programme teams and quality leads who want to use capstone projects or final theses as evidence that intended learning outcomes are achieved. It covers rubric mapping, second marking and calibration, supervision, the share of starters who reach the capstone, and students' own accounts. Use it when preparing a self-evaluation for accreditation. Koji can run the interviews with final-year students.
What's in this checklist
- Thesis criteria map to the programme learning outcomes, not only to thesis craft
- Every outcome the programme claims is scored, or marked not shown in this work
- Theses are second marked, and examiners meet to calibrate grades
- The rubric and assessment form are shared with examiners and students
- New supervisors get coaching or peer support before they assess
- The report says how much guidance the supervisor gave
- You report how many starters reached the capstone, not just the pass rate
- Final-year students say which courses prepared them and which did not
- Capstone results sit next to graduate outcomes and employer feedback
