The 7-step concierge MVP playbook

Process showing seven steps of a concierge MVP, from writing a hypothesis to a persevere, pivot or kill decision.
Seven steps from a one-sentence hypothesis to a persevere, pivot or kill call.

A seven-step playbook for validating a startup idea by delivering the service by hand to a small group of paying customers. It starts with a falsifiable hypothesis and ends with a decision to persevere, pivot or kill. Koji can run the post-delivery interviews so the learning does not depend on the founder's memory.

What's in this process

  1. Write the hypothesis: One sentence: target customer, price, outcome and underlying need.
  2. Set the falsifier: Decide in advance what evidence would prove you wrong.
  3. Recruit a tiny cohort: 5 to 15 customers from the real target segment.
  4. Deliver it yourself: Do every step by hand. Track time, questions and workarounds.
  5. Interview after delivery: A structured 30-minute interview each cycle, about past behavior.
  6. Persevere, pivot or kill: After 5 to 10 cycles, decide with the data.
  7. Document and share: Keep transcripts, themes and quotes in a research repository.
