Three diary study sampling methods

The three ways to decide when participants make a diary study entry: at fixed intervals, when a random signal arrives, or whenever a set event happens. It is for UX and product researchers planning a longitudinal study. Pick the method before you write the prompts. Event-contingent sampling is the usual choice in product research because it cuts irrelevant entries. Koji can run the follow-up interviews afterwards.

What's in this framework
- Interval-contingent: Participants report at fixed times, for example every evening at 7pm.
- Signal-contingent: Participants report when a random prompt or notification arrives.
- Event-contingent: Participants report each time a set event happens, like opening your app. The most common choice in product research.
