EUA Trends 2024: five findings on teaching evaluation
What 489 European universities reported about how they assess and improve teaching

A summary of five findings from the European University Association's Trends 2024 report, based on a survey of 489 higher education institutions in 46 European systems. It is meant for quality assurance staff, teaching centres and vice-rectors who want a quick view of where teaching evaluation in Europe stands. Koji helps institutions add conversational student feedback to the survey and portfolio mix.
What's in this guide
- Surveys lead: Student feedback surveys are the most common way institutions assess teaching.
- Methods are widening: Almost half already use teaching portfolios that combine several instruments.
- Teaching centres are growing: About two thirds of institutions have a learning and teaching centre.
- Students in quality assurance, mostly: 76% involve students fully in quality assurance and 18% partially.
- Interest in AI, little strategy yet: Attention to AI is rising, but institution-wide approaches are not yet widespread.
