Column chart
Recruits needed to seat a 10-person focus group, by show rate

A column chart of how many people you need to recruit to seat a 10-person focus group with less than a 1% risk of an under-attended group: 13 at a very good 90% show rate, 17 at the average 80% and 27 at the 50% typical of difficult audiences. The figures come from Peter DePaulo's analysis in Quirk's. Use it to check a vendor quote: the recruit multiplier, not the incentive, is what makes specialist groups expensive.
