What graduate outcome sources show about entry-level jobs
Five sources of evidence on the first job rung, and the blind spot of each

A comparison of five sources programme teams use to understand graduate employment: national graduate surveys, payroll data studies, employer recruitment surveys, job postings and interviews with recent graduates. For each it shows what the source reveals about entry-level jobs and what it misses, which matters when AI may be changing junior roles faster than outcome surveys can record. Koji can run the recent-graduate interviews as short AI-led conversations with thematic analysis.
What's in this reference table
| Source | What it shows | What it misses |
|---|---|---|
| National graduate surveys | Activity, sector and job title about 15 months out | Tasks, and anything recent |
| Payroll data studies | Employment shifts by age and AI exposure | Your programme and your graduates |
| Employer recruitment surveys | How many graduates employers hire each cycle | What new hires actually do |
| Job postings | A fast, noisy view of demand for target roles | Who was actually hired |
| Interviews with recent graduates | Tasks, skills used and what felt missing | Whether AI or the economy caused a change |
