Flowchart
Can your graduate data see graduates abroad?

A decision flowchart for institutions that use tax, employment or social security registers to track graduate outcomes. Registers usually stop at the border, so graduates who emigrate show up as missing. The flowchart shows how to measure that gap, use migration data where it exists, and fill the rest with a short alumni follow-up. Koji can run that follow-up as a multilingual conversational interview from your own alumni list.
What's in this flowchart
Start: You track graduates with register data
- Measure the no-record share. Per programme, at the follow-up point.
- Does your country record emigration?
- Yes: go to 3.
- No: Run a short alumni follow-up. Ask if they live and work abroad, in their language. Then go to 4.
- Report emigrants as their own group. Not as missing data.
- Are some graduates still unaccounted for?
- Yes: go to 5.
- No: Compare programmes, stating the method.
- Follow up the rest, then weight. Estimate outcomes abroad and weight or report them beside register data.
- Finish: Ask why they left, and report it.
