Bar chart

Felt known by name vs actually known

Results from a 185-student biology course that used name tents

Bar chart: 20% of students felt known by name in earlier large classes, 78% in a course using name tents, though instructors knew 53% of names.

A chart of three results from a high-enrollment biology course. Students who had rarely felt known by name in earlier large classes mostly felt known in this one, where name tents were used, even though the instructors knew about half of the names. It is for quality officers and programme leads who read belonging and approachability items in course evaluations. Koji's course evaluation interviews follow up on those ratings to find out what students experienced.
