The four factors of the Work Readiness Scale, a self-rating measure of how prepared graduates feel for their first graduate job. Programme and careers teams can use the factors as shared headings when they ask graduates, placement hosts and supervisors about the transition into work, so the views can be compared. Koji can ask a rating per factor and then follow up on the reason behind each one.

What's in this framework

  1. Personal characteristics: How graduates see their own traits as they apply to work situations.
  2. Organisational acumen: Understanding how organisations work and what is expected of a new employee.
  3. Work competence: The capability to do the work itself.
  4. Social intelligence: Social skills, and how a person adapts and interacts with others at work.
