How to set up always-on continuous discovery

Five steps to keep weekly interviews going without burning out

Process showing five steps for always-on continuous discovery: standing study, automated funnel, study kept live, weekly synthesis, quarterly refresh
The study never closes. What changes is the 30 minutes a week you spend reading what came in.

Five steps for running continuous discovery as an always-on system rather than a string of research sprints. Set up one standing study, feed it from in-product invitations, keep it open every week, review new transcripts for 30 minutes a week and refresh the questions every quarter. With an AI interviewer such as Koji running the sessions, the weekly cadence no longer depends on a moderator's calendar.

What's in this process

  1. Create a standing study: One study on your most important ongoing question, broad enough for weekly insight and focused enough to act on.
  2. Automate the participant funnel: In-app banners, post-interaction prompts or emails to active users that route straight to the study.
  3. Keep the study live: Never close it between cycles, so people can take part in any week.
  4. Make synthesis weekly: Spend 30 minutes a week on new transcripts instead of waiting for 20 interviews to pile up.
  5. Refresh the brief quarterly: Update the research questions every 3 months so the study follows the product.
