Price ladder checklist before you launch
Nine checks for the prices in a Gabor-Granger price test

A checklist for designing the price ladder in a Gabor-Granger price test, for founders and product teams setting a first price or a new tier. Use it before the first participant answers, since the prices should not change once answers come in. In Koji the ladder locks automatically once interviews start.
Where this appears
What's in this checklist
- Floor sits just above your cheapest credible alternative and covers your costs
- Ceiling is a price you expect most people to turn down
- The price you lean towards sits near the middle of the ladder
- 5 to 7 prices, or up to 10 when your sample is well above 30
- Even steps, or percentage steps when the top is about 3 times the bottom or more
- Every price has the same ending
- The unit matches how you will bill, such as per month
- One rule for who counts as a buyer, fixed for the whole study
- Participants see what is priced before the first price
