Four user groups for AI feature adoption research

Framework of four groups to sample for AI feature adoption research: never tried it, tried once and stopped, use it but check everything, rely on it.
Sample by what people did, not by plan tier. Pull each group from your analytics

A sampling frame for researching why an AI feature isn't being adopted: split users by behaviour into those who never tried it, tried it once and stopped, use it but check everything it does, and rely on it. Interview 6 to 10 people from each group so their reasons start to repeat. Koji can sort people into the groups with a screening question on a single interview link.

What's in this framework

  1. Never tried it: They saw it, or never saw it.
  2. Tried once and stopped: Usually your richest group.
  3. Use it, but check everything: Heavy checking is a trust signal.
  4. Rely on it: They show you what a good outcome looks like.
