Framework
The four layers of an opportunity solution tree

The opportunity solution tree has four layers: a single measurable outcome, the customer opportunities that could move it, solutions for each opportunity, and experiments that test the riskiest assumption behind each solution. Product trios use it to keep discovery tied to customer evidence instead of a feature backlog. Koji interviews can feed the opportunity layer with themes and quotes from real customers each week.

What's in this framework
- Outcome: One measurable result the team can move, like a change in weekly active users. Not a feature or a milestone.
- Opportunities: Customer needs, pain points and desires found in interviews, broken into smaller child opportunities.
- Solutions: At least three ideas per opportunity, each traced back to it and to the outcome.
- Experiments: The cheapest test of the riskiest assumption behind a solution, run before you build.
