Checklist
A course evaluation checklist for working students
How to hear from students who combine study with a paid job

A seven-point checklist for quality assurance teams and programme directors who want course evaluation to capture the experience of students with term-time jobs. EUROSTUDENT data shows most students in Europe work during the lecture period, yet many evaluation processes assume a full-time student with free evenings. Koji's text and voice interviews can be completed at any time, which helps with the first steps.
What's in this checklist
- Keep the window open long enough to include evenings and weekends
- Let students answer on a phone, by text or by voice
- Ask how many hours the course really took, and when
- Ask about timetabling, deadlines and recorded material directly
- Collect work status only if you will use it, and say why
- Compare response rates and themes for working and non-working students
- Report back changes that make the course easier to combine with a job
