Checklist

Research readout deck checklist

Checklist of eight checks before sending a customer research readout deck, from finding-led slide titles to an owner and date on the recommendation.
Run this list before the deck goes to anyone senior

Eight checks to run on a research readout before it goes to executives or investors: finding-led titles, a first slide that stands alone, bases next to every number, verbatim quotes attributed by role, an honest method slide, an owned recommendation, a slide on what you do not know and an appendix for the rest. Useful for founders, PMs and designers presenting their own research.

What's in this checklist

  • The title of every slide is a finding or a decision, not a topic
  • Slide 1 alone tells a busy reader what you found and what you recommend
  • Every number has its base next to it, such as 18 of 26
  • Every quote is verbatim and attributed by role, with no names or companies
  • The method slide names who you did not talk to
  • The recommendation has an owner and a date
  • There is a slide on what you do not know
  • Everything that did not make the seven is in the appendix or behind a link
