Process
The six steps of outcome harvesting for a programme
Collect verified evidence of what graduates and partners did differently

A step-by-step process for running an outcome harvest on a degree programme, based on the method set out by Ricardo Wilson-Grau and Heather Britt for the Ford Foundation. It helps programme teams and review panels collect verified evidence of what graduates, employers and partners did differently, and how the programme contributed. Koji's AI-moderated interviews can carry the engagement step with alumni and employers at scale.
What's in this process
- Design the harvest: Agree the questions the harvest must answer and what every outcome description has to contain.
- Draft outcome descriptions: Pull changes from placement reports, alumni updates and partner feedback, with what the programme did.
- Engage informants: Review drafts with alumni, supervisors and employers. Correct them and add outcomes the documents missed.
- Substantiate: Check a sample of outcomes with independent people who know about them but did not report them.
- Analyse and interpret: Group the verified outcomes and use them to answer the harvest questions.
- Support use: Help the programme team and review panel act on what the harvest found.
