Process

Price your first product in five steps

From a blank price field to a tested price in about a week

Process showing five steps to price a first product: write the offer, pick prices, talk to about 30 buyers, read the curve, ask for money.
Five steps, about a week, and the last one is the one most founders skip.

A five-step process for setting a first price with customer conversations. Write the offer without a price, choose five to seven prices, talk to about 30 target buyers, read the demand curve with the reasons behind it, then ask for real money. Built for founders without a research team. Koji can run the price test and show the curve and quotes in its report.

What's in this process

  1. Write the offer: One or two sentences on what the buyer gets and what is included. No price in it.
  2. Pick five to seven prices: Evenly spaced, reaching well below and above the price you expect.
  3. Talk to about 30 buyers: People who match your target customer, in short calls over three or four days.
  4. Read the curve and the reasons: Share who would buy at each price, and why they said yes or no.
  5. Ask for money: Offer the first five customers the chosen price and ask for a deposit.
