How to Improve User Interview Completion Rates

What 'completion rate' actually measures
User interview completion rate = the percentage of people who start an interview and finish it. Different tools draw the line in different places — some count anyone who clicks the link, others only count people past the consent step — so always check the denominator before benchmarking.
In Koji, completion rate is measured as: (interviews that hit the final question and submit) ÷ (interviews that loaded the first question). The drop-off between the landing page and the first question is reported separately as abandonment.

A few notes on these numbers:
- Scheduled interviews look low because no-shows count as drops in the funnel. About 30% of confirmed scheduled interviews don't happen at the booked time. - Survey completion is sensitive to length: every additional 5 questions past 10 typically drops completion 5-7 percentage points.
