Framework
The Stop, Start, Continue feedback format
Three prompts in place of one open comment box at the end of a course evaluation

A simple framework for collecting open course feedback with three prompts: what to stop, what to start and what to continue. It is for programme directors and quality staff who want comments specific enough to act on and to report back to students. In a study at three UK universities the structured format was associated with deeper feedback than a single free-text box. In Koji the three prompts can be run as open questions with follow-ups on vague answers.
What's in this framework
- Stop: What the teaching team should stop doing. The comment arrives already phrased as a proposed change.
- Start: What the teaching team should start doing. Follow up vague ideas, such as more examples, to make them usable.
- Continue: What should carry on. Gives a programme evidence for keeping a practice that might otherwise be cut.
