Course evaluation reminder plan in five steps
What the field experiments on survey reminders mean for an evaluation window
A five-step plan for reminding students to complete an online course evaluation, drawn from two field experiments. Personalised contacts and reminders with new wording each time raised the odds of response, while send day and hour made no difference. An extra reminder raised response without making the sample more diverse, so the plan ends by checking who is still missing. Koji personal links show which students have not started, so reminders can go only to them.
What's in this process
- Plan the contacts: Fix the invitation and the number of reminders before the evaluation window opens.
- Personalise every message: Use the student's name, the course name and a named sender.
- Change the wording each time: Give each reminder a new reason to respond instead of resending the same text.
- Remind only non-respondents: Use individual links so students who already answered are left alone.
- Check who is still missing: Compare respondents with the class list. An extra reminder raised response but not diversity.
