Creating Your Account

Signing up for Koji takes less than a minute. You can use your Google account or create an account with your email address — both get you to the same place.

How to Sign Up

Head to /signup to get started. You'll see two options:

Option 1: Sign Up with Google

Click Continue with Google and select your Google account. That's it — your account is created instantly using your Google profile information. This is the fastest way to get started, and it means one fewer password to remember.

If you use Google Workspace for your organization, signing up with your work Google account keeps everything connected to your professional identity.

Option 2: Sign Up with Email

Prefer not to use Google? No problem. Enter your full name, email address, and choose a password. You'll receive a verification email — click the link to confirm your account, and you're in.

A few things to keep in mind about email signup:

• Full name is required. This is used as your display name across the platform.
• Use an email you check regularly. Koji sends study notifications and interview completion alerts to this address.
• Choose a strong password. At least 8 characters with a mix of letters, numbers, and symbols.
• Check your spam folder if you don't see the verification email within a couple of minutes.

Setting Up Your Profile

Once you're signed in, you'll land on your dashboard. Before diving into research, it's worth taking 30 seconds to check your profile settings.

You can access your profile from the sidebar navigation. When you switch to Profile mode, you'll see options for:

• Profile — update your display name and profile picture.
• Billing — manage your subscription and payment method.
• Usage — see your credit usage for the current billing period.

Your profile information is visible to team members if you're on a plan that supports collaboration, but it's never shown to interview participants. Participants interact only with Koji's AI interviewer.

Understanding Your Free Plan

Every new account starts on the Free plan, which includes:

• 10 one-time credits: enough to run several text interviews or a few voice interviews.
• One active study at a time: the free account runs a single live study, and interview volume within it is limited only by credits.
• Full AI analysis: themes, insights, and quality scores on every interview.
• Every interview mode: voice and text interviews, structured questions, and report generation all work on free credits.

Credits are the only gate on Koji. A text interview costs 1 credit, a voice interview costs 3 credits, and refreshing a report costs 5 credits. Credits stay in your balance and are drawn down as you use them, and you won't be asked for a credit card to start.

When you're ready to scale up, interviews start as low as EUR 1 per text conversation and EUR 3 per voice conversation at the annual rate. Choose what fits: pay as you go at EUR 2.00 per credit with no subscription at all, one-time credit packs from EUR 100 (EUR 1.82 down to EUR 1.33 per credit), or a monthly plan:

Monthly plans work out to about EUR 1.20 per credit, and annual plans pay ten months for the year with all credits granted on day one at exactly EUR 1.00 per credit. You are never tied to a subscription: pay only for the interviews you actually run. Pro adds a team workspace with a shared credit pool, API access, the MCP connector and webhooks; Scale adds multiple team workspaces plus invoicing and SEPA billing. Your Dashboard: Home Base

After signing up, the dashboard is where you'll spend most of your time. Here's a quick orientation:

• Research goal input — the main dashboard greets you with "What do you want to learn?" and a text input where you type your research goal to start a new study.
• Template library — browse pre-built research frameworks to jumpstart study design.
• Sidebar navigation — in the overview section, you'll find New study, Templates, and Studies. Switch to profile mode for Profile, Billing, and Usage.

The studies list lives at a separate page accessible via the Studies link in the sidebar. There you can see all your research projects with their status, interview counts, and more.

Choosing the Right Signup Method

Both signup methods give you the same access and features. Here's a quick comparison to help you decide:

Security and Privacy

A few things worth knowing about how Koji handles your account:

• Your data is yours. Koji processes interview data to generate analysis and insights for your studies. Your data is never used to train AI models or shared with other customers.
• Encryption in transit and at rest. All communication with Koji is encrypted via HTTPS, and stored data is encrypted at rest.
• Session management. You can sign out from all devices via your account settings if you ever need to.
• No hidden data sharing. Koji doesn't sell or share your personal information with third parties.

Troubleshooting Signup Issues

If you run into problems creating your account, here are the most common fixes:

"I didn't receive the verification email." Check your spam or junk folder first. If it's not there, try requesting a new verification email from the signup page. Make sure you entered the correct email address.

"Google sign-in isn't working." Make sure pop-ups aren't blocked in your browser — the Google authentication flow uses a pop-up window. Try disabling browser extensions temporarily if the issue persists.

"I already have an account but can't sign in." If you signed up with Google, make sure you're selecting the same Google account. If you signed up with email, try the password reset flow. You can reset your password from the sign-in page.

"I want to change my email address." You can update your email from your account settings after signing in. If you can't sign in with your current email, reach out to support.
