Dashboard Overview
Navigate your Koji dashboard to manage studies, track interviews, and access research insights.
Dashboard Overview
The dashboard is your command center for all research activity in Koji. From here you can create new studies, monitor ongoing interviews, review completed research, and access your analysis — all in one place.
You can access your dashboard at any time by visiting /dashboard or clicking the Koji logo in the navigation bar.
The Studies List
The central part of your dashboard is the studies list — a view of every research project you've created. Each study card shows you key information at a glance:
- Study title — the name of your research project.
- Status indicator — whether the study is in draft, active (published and collecting interviews), or completed.
- Interview count — how many interviews have been completed out of your target.
- Creation date — when the study was started.
- Key themes — a preview of emerging themes once interviews start coming in.
Click on any study card to open it and see the full details: research brief, interview plan, individual interview transcripts, and the aggregated analysis report.
Study Statuses
Studies move through a clear lifecycle:
| Status | What It Means |
|---|---|
| Draft | You're still working on the study design with the AI Consultant. Not yet published. |
| Active | The study is published and the interview link is live. Participants can respond. |
| Completed | You've marked the study as complete. The interview link is deactivated and the final report is available. |
Draft studies are where you spend time with the AI Consultant refining your research brief and interview plan. Once you're satisfied, publishing moves the study to Active status. You can learn more about this process in Creating Your First Study.
Creating a New Study
The New Study button is prominently placed on your dashboard. Clicking it opens the study creation flow, which starts by asking you to describe your research goal in plain language.
From there, the AI Consultant guides you through designing the research — suggesting methodology, building an interview plan, and refining the brief. The whole process typically takes about 5 minutes.
For a step-by-step walkthrough, see Creating Your First Study.
Study Limits by Plan
The number of active studies you can have depends on your plan:
| Plan | Active Studies | Interviews per Month |
|---|---|---|
| Free | 1 | 5 |
| Starter | 5 | 50 |
| Growth | 20 | 200 |
| Scale | Unlimited | Unlimited |
If you've reached your study limit, you'll need to complete or archive an existing study before creating a new one — or upgrade your plan. See the Plan Comparison Guide for details on each tier.
Navigating the Dashboard
The dashboard layout is designed to keep things simple, even as your research activity grows.
Top Navigation
The top navigation bar gives you quick access to:
- Dashboard home — click the Koji logo to return here from anywhere.
- Account menu — your avatar in the top-right corner opens settings, plan management, and sign-out options.
Sidebar Navigation
The sidebar (on larger screens) or hamburger menu (on mobile) provides navigation to:
- Studies — your main studies list.
- Settings — account preferences, notification settings, and plan management.
The interface is responsive, so it works well whether you're on a desktop, tablet, or phone. That said, designing research briefs is most comfortable on a larger screen, while checking interview progress works great from mobile.
Monitoring Interview Progress
Once a study is active and you've shared the interview link, your dashboard becomes your real-time progress tracker.
Each active study card updates to show:
- Completed interviews — the running count of finished interviews.
- In-progress interviews — participants currently in an active session.
- Average quality score — Koji's AI evaluates each interview for depth and relevance, giving you a quality metric so you know which responses are most valuable.
- Emerging themes — as more interviews complete, Koji surfaces the common themes and patterns it detects across responses.
You don't need to refresh the page constantly. The dashboard updates as new interviews come in, so you can check back whenever it's convenient.
Accessing Study Details
Clicking into a study from the dashboard opens the full study view, which includes several key sections:
Research Brief
The finalized brief you created with the AI Consultant. This includes your research objectives, target audience, methodology, and key topics.
Interview Plan
The structured interview guide that Koji's AI follows during each conversation. This shows the question flow, probing areas, and conversation structure.
Interviews
A list of all completed (and in-progress) interviews. Each interview entry shows:
- Participant identifier (anonymized)
- Duration
- Quality score
- Key takeaways extracted by the AI
- Full transcript
Analysis & Report
The aggregated analysis across all interviews, including:
- Theme identification — recurring patterns and topics across responses.
- Key insights — the most significant findings distilled from the data.
- Participant quotes — notable quotes that illustrate key themes.
- Summary report — a structured writeup of the research findings.
The analysis improves as more interviews come in. With just 2–3 interviews you'll start seeing initial patterns. By 5–8 interviews, the analysis typically becomes rich enough to drive decisions.
Dashboard Tips
Here are a few things that experienced Koji users find helpful:
- Start reviewing after 2–3 interviews. Don't wait until all interviews are done. Early reads can tell you if your questions are landing well or if you need to adjust.
- Pay attention to quality scores. A lower-than-expected quality score might mean your interview questions need refining, or that the participant pool isn't quite right.
- Use the study title wisely. Give studies descriptive names like "Q1 Churn Analysis — Enterprise Segment" rather than "Study 1." Your future self will thank you when the studies list grows.
- Bookmark your dashboard. If you run research regularly, keeping /dashboard in your browser bookmarks saves a few seconds every time.
