Upgrading Your Plan

Learn how to upgrade, downgrade, or switch billing frequency between Koji's Free, Insights, Interviews, and Enterprise plans.

Changing Your Koji Plan

Koji makes it easy to move between plans as your research needs evolve. Whether you're upgrading for more credits, downgrading to save costs, or switching between monthly and annual billing, here's how it works.

How to Upgrade

From Free to a Paid Plan

  1. Navigate to your Dashboard
  2. Click on Upgrade or visit the Pricing page
  3. Select your desired plan (Insights or Interviews)
  4. Choose monthly or annual billing
  5. Complete checkout via Stripe
  6. Your new credits are available immediately

From Insights to Interviews

  1. Go to DashboardProfileBilling
  2. Click Change Plan or access the Stripe billing portal
  3. Select the Interviews plan
  4. The upgrade takes effect immediately
  5. You'll receive a prorated credit for unused time on your current plan

Upgrading to Enterprise

Enterprise plans are custom-negotiated. Contact the Koji team to discuss your needs:

  • Volume-based credit allocations (500+ credits/month)
  • Dedicated success manager
  • Custom integrations and SLAs

How Proration Works

When you upgrade mid-billing cycle:

  1. Immediate access — you get the new plan's credits right away
  2. Prorated charge — you're charged only for the remaining days in your current billing period at the new plan's rate
  3. Prorated credit — you receive a credit for the unused days on your previous plan

Example: If you upgrade from Insights (€29/mo) to Interviews (€79/mo) halfway through your billing period:

  • You receive a ~€14.50 credit for the unused half of Insights
  • You're charged ~€39.50 for the remaining half on Interviews
  • Net charge: ~€25 for the remainder of the period
  • Next full billing period: €79

How to Downgrade

From a Paid Plan to Free

  1. Go to DashboardProfileBilling
  2. Click Cancel Subscription or access the Stripe billing portal
  3. Your paid plan remains active until the end of your current billing period
  4. After that, you revert to the Free plan

From Interviews to Insights

  1. Access the Stripe billing portal from DashboardProfileBilling
  2. Select the Insights plan
  3. The change takes effect at the end of your current billing period
  4. You retain full access until then

What Happens to Your Data on Downgrade

Nothing is deleted. All your data is preserved:

  • ✅ All studies remain intact and accessible (unlimited on every plan)
  • ✅ All interview transcripts and responses are kept
  • ✅ Reports remain accessible
  • ✅ Settings and configurations are preserved

Since all plans include unlimited studies and the same feature set, downgrading only affects your monthly credit allocation and whether report refreshes cost credits.


Switching Billing Frequency

Monthly to Annual

  • Save 2 months free by switching to annual billing
  • Access the Stripe billing portal and select the annual option
  • The switch takes effect at your next billing date

Annual to Monthly

  • Switch at any time via the Stripe billing portal
  • The change takes effect when your annual term ends
  • No early termination fees

All plans include: text and voice interviews, structured questions, API access, webhooks, headless mode, CRM import, branded forms, custom URLs, CSV/JSON export, lead collection, and the quality gate.


Frequently Asked Questions

Will I lose my data if I downgrade?

No. All studies, interviews, transcripts, and reports are preserved. Since all plans have unlimited studies, nothing is paused or archived on downgrade.

Can I upgrade in the middle of a billing cycle?

Yes. Upgrades take effect immediately with prorated billing. You only pay the difference for the remaining days.

Do I lose access to features when downgrading?

No. All features are available on every plan, including Free. The only changes are your credit allocation and whether report refreshes cost credits.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Access the Stripe billing portal from DashboardProfileBilling. Your plan stays active until the end of the current period.

What about structured questions?

Structured questions (scale, choice, ranking, yes/no) are included in all interview types at no extra credit cost. They're available on every plan.
